Meet the Team
Lorne Umscheid and his wife Laurie currently live on his family farm in Milo. Lorne worked as a automotive technician for 20 years before switching to the ag industry.
Originally starting out with Alberta Wheat Pool and staying through all the changes to finish his career with Nutrien after 25 years. During the last 20 years was heavily involved with the equipment selling that the company carried. Nutrients deciecision to get out of equipment seemed like a good opportunity for a retirement job. Moving to his own office at home and teaming up with his son Josh, Big Slick Ag Supply was created.
With his wife Laurie, who owns Vulcan Vacations Travel Agency, recently moving her office home to the farm, both are enjoying life to the fullest.
Josh grew up in Milo, Alberta spending as much time as he could on his grandparents and uncles farms. In 2005 he married Sarah, and started helping out around her family farm. In 2009, Josh and Sarah started Big Slick Custom Spraying and also started renting and farming their own land. Josh and Sarah started a family that same year and now have three daughters, Neve, Elle, and Ayla!
Josh, Sarah and his family farm with Sarah’s parents now in Milo, Arrowwood and Vulcan. When Josh’s Dad retired from the Ag Input industry, he and Lorne started Big Slick Ag Supply Ltd. Josh and Lorne wanted to start a small company that offered fair pricing and excellent service.
Both Josh and Lorne enjoy meeting new farmers every day, sharing stories and working together to accomplish exactly what it is the farmer is looking for. Lorne has a wealth of knowledge from his years of experience and they hope to continue to offer very fair priced options in the world of Grain Storage and Handling for years to come!
Amy joined the team at Big Slick Ag Supply at the end of 2023. Amy was born and raised as the 5th generation on her family farm near Champion, Alberta. As the oldest, she was always involved in all the farming activities and enjoyed helping her dad out with whatever needed to be done. Amy graduated with a Business Management Diploma from Lethbridge College in 2010 and has administration experience in a variety of different industries. She is excited to be involved in the agriculture industry and looks forward to helping Big Slick Ag Supply grow for many years to come. Amy and her husband Jason live in Vulcan with their two children, Rhett & Chloe.
